Easy Harvest’s selective harvesting kit uses a water-pumping system to harvest seaweed directly from floating patches. By harvesting directly in the water, we avoid collecting sand and prevent strandings.
Understanding the need for easy and fast logistics, we have developed a solution where the seaweed biomass is channeled into a filter collector, separating and returning clean water to the ocean — enabling fast, low-impact seaweed removal and handling.
Conventional seaweed bloom cleaning practices using tractors and heavy machinery often compact sand, damage dune vegetation, and remove large amounts of sediment along with the seaweed — accelerating coastal erosion.
In many cases, mechanical removals yield nearly a 50:50 mix of seaweed and sand, gradually altering the beach profile. These operations are damaging and inconsistent, and depend on the operators’ capabilities. While such methods have been used out of necessity, they are far from sustainable. Without change, costly and complex sand replenishment projects will become inevitable. Easy Harvest’s harvesting methods provide a responsible alternative — capturing seaweed before it strands and minimising economic and environmental damages.
